This Lent, our parish will walk slowly through Jesus’ invitation to abide in John 15. On Sundays, we will hear these words preached. On Wednesdays, we will practice them together. This seminar is not about striving or mastering content, but about formation rather than performance.
Rooted in the Vine is a five-week Lenten seminar offered on Wednesdays at 7:00 pm. Each evening will begin with soup and salad for dinner, followed by guided teaching, prayer, Scripture, and shared reflection.
Please register in advance to either bring a dish to share or make a monetary donation to help offset food costs.
Weekly Themes
Week 1 – The Art of Abiding
We begin not with what we must do, but with where we already are. Jesus says, “Abide.” There is nothing to prove here, only a place to stay.
Week 2 – Facing the Pruning
We face what love sometimes costs. The hand that prunes is the same hand that gives life.
Week 3 – The Goal of Joy
We receive before we respond. This week centers on the love of Christ for us, the source of all fruitfulness.
Week 4 – Friends of God
Jesus calls us friends, not servants. Together we listen for how abiding naturally bears fruit in the world.
Week 5 – Chosen for a Purpose
After all the words and practices, one command remains: love one another.
This Lent, we invite you into a slower, deeper journey of abiding in Christ and growing together as his people. We hope you will join us!
