Period poverty is the inability to afford menstrual products, leading to negative health, and social and economic consequences. One significant consequence is teen girls missing school and interrupting their education.
During this event, we will be led by Donna Durham's sister, Karen Burke, teaching us how to make cloth menstrual pads to aid in reducing period poverty.
Knowing how to sew is NOT a criteria to attend! All are welcome.
Things to bring:
Sewing machine if you have one
Rotary cutter or fabric scissors if you have them
Iron or iron board
Outside of the actual sewing, some of the activities include: cutting, tracing, pinning, pressing, and turning pads inside out.
